Renowned for his virtuosity and distinctive style, Thomas Kretzschmar embodies the essence of "European swing," captivating audiences with his musical prowess. Collaborating with luminaries of the gypsy jazz scene such as Biréli Lagrène, Angelo Debarre, Stochelo Rosenberg, and Tchavolo Schmitt, he has carved his niche in the realm of jazz.
The evening is dedicated to Kretzschmar's homage to the legendary Stéphane Grappelli. Born in Paris in 1908 and leaving an indelible mark until his passing in 1997, Grappelli's influence reverberates through the annals of jazz history. As a founding member of the Hot Club de France alongside Django Reinhardt, Grappelli's eloquent and timeless compositions continue to resonate. With a nod to Grappelli's legacy, Kretzschmar presents his "Tribute to Stéphane Grappelli," infusing the cellar of Plaça Reial with the spirit of this jazz titan.
Accompanied by a piano trio, Kretzschmar's performance promises an enchanting evening filled with the simplicity, lyricism and perfect logic characteristic of Grappelli's musical discourse.
