Ester Guntín, Quiso negro
Grec Festival de Barcelona
to
Mercat de les Flors Lleida 59, 08004 Barcelona

Quiso negro explores the phenomenon of catharsis through the ritual use of acoustic, rhythmic, kinetic and iconographic patterns. It therefore draws on tarantism and its arsenal of myths to traverse a very broad, even contradictory, spectrum of contemporary scenarios of possession and catharsis: from the forms of mourning in ritualised burials to the uncontrolled ecstasy of rave parties. The piece seeks to give the body and the image a stage presence that goes beyond choreography. Quiso negro is about death, but it can be seen as a journey through the most vital aspects of dying: a katabasis, a festive descent.
A performance in the 2024 edition of Grec Festival de Barcelona.
