City and Science Biennial 2021

After the successful participation of the first edition in 2019, the City and Science Biennial returns in 2021 with a wide-ranging program that will take place in different open-air spaces in the city from June 8 to 13. The Biennial is the ideal meeting place to think about and debate the great challenges we face as a society from the point of view of science and technology. The second edition of the Biennial includes the 14th Science Festival, which will be held on Sunday, June 13 and will offer a program of activities of a more practical and family-oriented nature.
Barcelona City Council is organizing this collective event with the participation of universities, research centers, scientific, cultural and educational organizations and agents. The curatorship is made up of nine leading figures in their fields of knowledge who have been involved in drawing up a program full of debates, round tables, lectures, conversations, performances, installations, exhibitions, film sessions and other proposals. The activities will allow participants to explore the limits of knowledge from different sections: the relationship between art and science, the future of humanity, philosophy and ethics, regenerative medicine and bioengineering, sociology and politics, and sustainable food, the latter coinciding with the fact that Barcelona is the World Capital of Sustainable Food in 2021.
Within this framework, more than a hundred different activities are scheduled to take place over the six days in different venues throughout the city, with the participation of around 200 speakers and other invited guests. These are the exclusive events of the Biennial, as the Science Festival will bring many more participatory activities where you can also find workshops, experiments, demonstrations, itineraries and other experiences to experience science in first person.
