"Mother Melancholia," Samantha Shay (Iceland, Germany, 2022) at Choreoscope, Barcelona Dance Film Festival.
Movement is a universal language that is subconsciously imprinted in our DNA, breaking all artificial barriers of verbal language. When you hear a beat, you move. When you can't use words to communicate, you use your body.
When movement of the body merges with cinematographic movement, one of the most authentic cinematographic genres is born: dance cinema. While words can be deceiving, body language cannot.
Choreoscope is dedicated not only to dance lovers but also to those who enjoy quality cinema. Cinema knows no borders. Neither does dance. There is a common language that unites them: the universal language of movement. Choreoscope Barcelona Dance Film Festival is the dance film festival for those who continue, move and evolve.
