One of the symbols of Barcelona, the construction of La Sagrada Familia (The Holy Family) was started on March 19th ,1882 as part of a project by the diocesan architect Francisco de Paula del Villar (1828-1901). At the end of 1883, Barcelona architect Antoni Gaudí was commissioned to carry on the works. The cathedral is still under construction 128 years later. It can be visited any time of the year and guided tours in Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian, German and Portuguese langauges are provided. General ticket price €12.
