Located in the city's old harbour, the Port Vell, Barcelona's Aquarium is the largest marine centre in the world dedicated to the Mediterranean's undersea life.
One of the city's most popular attractions, this is the perfect place for a fun day of learning. You'll discover the Mediterranean's many different species, seeing them for yourselves in the 66 Mediterranean and tropical tanks, which are home to 11,000 fishes and sea creatures, representing some 450 different species. The most spectacular of all these tanks is the immense Oceanarium which, at 5m deep and 36m in diameter, is the largest in Europe. Running through the Oceanarium is a transparent 80-metre-long tunnel, through which you can walk among sharks, giltheads, morays, ocean sunfish and many more species. With your ticket you'll also be able to visit the permanent exhibitions, which have plenty of fun, hands-on activities for the children. Planeta Aqua shows the importance of water in the development of our planet, and in Explora! kids can discover the underwater world by using their five senses. After your visit, you'll be able to enjoy the different services on offer, including a café and shop.
