Sant Pau, the Modernista structure in Barcelona named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997, is the most emblematic work of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, a key figure in the Catalan Modernisme movement.
After housing Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau for almost a century, it underwent a massive and sustainable period of restoration in 2009, which returned the architectural gem to its former glory.
The site was reopened in 2014 for the public to admire the majestic garden-city imagined by Domènech, who believed in the restorative power of beauty. For his exquisite, signature hospital, everything was designed around one objective: the well-being of the patients.
Carefully crafted self-guided and private tours of Sant Pau are now available, and the site acts as a venue for various cultural activities, including concert series, conferences and private events, throughout the year.
Sant Pau is also home to a research centre, formed by leading international organisations that work in the fields of health, education and sustainability.
Guided tours of Sant Pau are conducted in English every day at 10.30am. The standard ticket price for guided tours is €19 and for self-guided tours is €14. To check the various discounts that are available click here.
