About 900 people will be sleeping on Barcelona's streets this winter. One of the groups that help the city's homeless is Esperança. This group of mostly English-speaking volunteers prepares and distributes food to the city's homeless every week. At Christmas they give out donated gift bags along with the food. You can help out by preparing a gift bag for someone on the streets this holiday season.
What to include in the bag: Socks, hat, gloves, toiletries, a sweet treat, a small gift, scarf etc. (no alcohol or drugs).
Where to drop off the bag: You can drop off your bag at the Metropolitan office on C/Duc 6 pral. 1º (five minutes walk from Pl. Catalunya) between Monday 14th and Friday 18th, 10am-3pm. If you would like to drop off outside those hours please call 93 451 4486.
And if you want to do more...
Esperança is always looking for volunteers to prepare food and to distribute it on one of their weekly runs. You can join the group and offer your time via their Facebook page.
