Although from London's West End, the members of Young Gun Silver Fox are Californians in spirit. On their first album West End Coast (2015), the band formed by Shawn Lee (Silver Fox) and Andy Platts (Young Gun) formulated an updated version of the classic West Coast sound. Their approach evolved and expanded in both sound complexity and composition on AM Waves (2018) and Canyons (2020), where the duo intertwined serene and friendly funk, soft soul and soft rock that immortalize the golden era of the 1970s.
However, their latest album, Ticket To Shangri-La, is much more than an act of nostalgia; it's a laid-back, yet carefully crafted showcase of warm pop-soul melodies blending sounds of the late 1970s and early 1980s R&B. The ten new tracks include rich vocal harmonies, sophisticated horn section movements and sounds of a warmth that evokes all kinds of coastal atmospheres, or what could be the ideal soundtrack for the first day of summer holidays.
