Ural Thomas is a legendary American soulman, a legend recovered. He has worked with or opened for James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Etta James and Otis Redding and has more than forty concerts at the New York Apollo Theater on his resume. Until he moved to Portland in 1968 (family, life), and suddenly he had disappeared, doing only one weekly jam session at his house and very rarely gave a concert.
Until 2013, that is, when soul DJ, Scott Magee, and the owner of the Mississippi Records label got together to convinced him to return to the stage. They put together the band Ural Thomas & The Pain, with eight musicians supporting the voice of Mr. Thomas. They released two albums, a self-titled one in 2016 and The Right Time in 2018 and the fuse was lit. Festivals like the Waterfront Blues Festival picked up the phone and scheduled him. And the wick became a fire from there.
