Thylacine was founded in 2012 by William Rezé, who until then had worked as a saxophonist in various groups. Born in the French town of Angers, Rezé studied classical music and fine arts before taking that musical step ten years ago, with which he decided to enter the field of electronics, a field in which he moves along a path similar to that of Fakear and Superpoze.
To compose, he is inspired by his trips, such as those he has made on the Russian Trans-Siberian, which gave rise to his first album, Transsiberian (2015) or through Argentina aboard an Airstream caravan, which added to other trips that led to Roads vol. 1 (2019) and Roads vol. 2 (2020).
Thylacine's name began to stand out in 2014 when he was one of the three winners (among 32 selected) of the Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges. His fourth album, Timeless, was released in 2020 during the first confinement and showed in it a revisiting of classical music pieces from electronics (where all its eleven songs, except one, bear the name of a composer: Sheremetev, Schubert, Beethoven). His next album, the fifth of his career, will be released in 2023.
