The Women of the Bauhaus, Susanne Radelhof (Germany, 2019)
The Bauhaus school, founded in 1919, heralded a new era of innovative design and pioneering architecture but was also driven by the desire to build a contemporary, gender-equal society. But until today, the best-known names are those of male teachers, including Walter Gropius, Johannes Itten and Paul Klee. The almost five hundred women artists who studied and taught there and decisively shaped our current design vision are still in the shadows or even forgotten.
This documentary is a tribute to these figures, among whom are Alma Buscher, Marianne Brandt, Gunta Stölzl, Friedl Dicker and Lucia Moholy. Women and artists who continue to represent models of courage and determination.
Film will be screened in original version (German) and subtitled in Spanish.
