Winner of a Grammy in 2014 and Downbeat magazine's Critics Award, Wayne Scoffery is one of the most talented saxophonists of his generation. He has worked alongside musical legends Ron Carter, Abdullah Ibrahim, Al Foster, Billy Hart, Eddie Henderson, Wallace Roney and Herbie Hancock. Scoffery is most linked to trumpeter Tom Harrell's quintet with whom he has worked since 2006, recorded seven albums and traveled half the world. Alone, he leads his own group, made up of renowned musicians—including Dave Kikoski, Ugonna Okegwo and Ralph Peterson—with whom he has toured internationally and released critically acclaimed albums, the last of which The Humble Warrior (Smoke Jazz Sessions, 2020). Scoffery is also the founder of the Black Art Jazz collective and a professor at Yale University. According to renowned critic Neil Tesser, we are dealing with a "jazz hero."
