Film still from "The Trial" by Orson Welles.
The Trial, Orson Welles (UK, UK, Italy, France, 1962)
In this adaptation of Franz Kafka's work of the same name, Josef K (Anthony Perkins) is caught in a mind-numbingly bureaucratic judicial system, from which he is unable to escape. Welles draws on nightmarish architecture and a disturbing descent into hell to explore the loss of identity, guilt and corruption of modern society.
Written, directed and edited by Welles, the adaptation of Kafka's famous text in the hand of the brilliant filmmaker is displayed in all its splendor: anthological sequence shots, expressionist angles and close-ups of enormous expressiveness.
Although not all "Wellesians" received it with enthusiasm, the communion between the worlds of Orson and Franz is, without a doubt, fascinating.
Film will be screened in original version with Spanish subtitles.
