The Quiet Girl, Colm Barrett (Ireland, 2022)
Cáit is a shy, lonely nine-year-old girl neglected by her impoverished, dysfunctional and overcrowded family. She meets all difficulties at home and at school in silence and has learned to pass unnoticed by those around her. When summer comes and her mother is about to give birth once more, Cáit is sent to live with distant relatives. The film will be screened in Irish with Catalan subtitles.
The evening opens at 20:45 with live music with Jinx Jazz Band playing jazz in its purest state: traditional Black music from the 1920s and 1930s and authentic New Orleans sounds from the early 20th century. The band is formed by musicians from different countries joined together by their love of jazz.
