Soweto Kinch Trio
Mas i Mas Festival
to
Jamboree Jazz Club Plaça Reial 17, 08002 Barcelona

Soweto Kinch is surely one of the most prolific musicians on the British scene. Possibly, he is one of the pioneers of what some call the "British jazz explosion," which has triggered the fame of artists such as Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia and Theon Cross.
Tenor saxophone, singer, poet and MC, Kinch will perform with The Black Peril, a project inspired by the sounds of ragtime, proto-jazz, West Indian folk music and the classic works of turn-of-the-20th-century black composers in a period marked by riots and racial conflicts. This is a project that rethinks the connection of the origins of jazz with modern forms of dance music, including hip hop and trap, exploring the exaltation of defiant optimism of early black music and the feeling of revolutionary danger that it symbolized.
At Mas i Mas'23, Soweto Kinch will also present some songs from his latest album. White Juju (2022), where he fuses classical, jazz and hip hop.
