The falcon and the phoenix were symbols of power in an Italy made up of a mosaic of states, until their unification in second half of the 19th century. Bologna, Florence, Perugia and the Papal States played a crucial role in the political life of Italy, along with Milan and Venice. The music of that time was a lucid, considered reflection of this scenario.

In this concert by the Medieval and Italian Renaissance music specialists Sollazzo Ensemble, provides the perfect soundtrack to transport audiences back to a century of class clashes and political struggles.
