Shout Out Louds were formed at the turn of the century in Stockholm, from long-standing childhood friendships. Their first single came out in 2003, just like their first EP. In 2005 they released their debut full-length, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. At that point they were already touring internationally and were acclaimed in their native country.
The discharge of energy, the songs that give wings, ultra-melodic sound—all were there from the beginning. The source: the pop of the sixties filtered by the indie of the eighties and the nineties.
Since then five more albums have followed. Optica, came out in February 2013. It consolidated them on the European indie pop podium and showed them inspired, especially in that lesson that they have learned so well from The Cure: making sure that even their happiest songs convey the correct stitching of inner melancholy. In September 2017 came their fifth album, Ease My Mind; although it has some sharper moments and more exuberant arrangements than earlier work, it maintains a very similar tone to that of Optica. After a couple of singles in 2018 and 2021—offering between them four new songs: "In New Europe," "Up the Hill," "As Far Away as Possible" and "High as a Kite"—February 2022 saw the release of their sixth album House.
