Scheherezade

Palau de la Música Catalana Carrer Palau de la Música 4-6, 08003 Barcelona
Ravel's colorful Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G Major was written between 1929 and 1931, and displays a rich range of musical inspirations. Ravel claimed to have been inspired by everything from the Salzburger's Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet to write his Adagio Assai, to American jazz, George Gershwin, and Basque influences.
Denis Kozhukhin, one of the most outstanding pianists on the international scene, will bring all the shine to this unforgettable work as a part of the BCN Clàssics concert series.
The concert will open with Debussy's Prelude to a Faun's Siesta, one of the most representative pieces of musical impressionism.
In the second part of the concert, immerse yourselves in the magical world of the mosques, the turbans, the genies and lamps of One Thousand and One Nights, a medieval collection of stories that inspired Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov to write Sheherazade.
