For years, Brazilian music has opened a very dynamic branch in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona, where the big band founded and directed by Joan Chamorro has explored the paths of bossa nova, samba, chorinho and many other sounds from Brazil. In its annual concert at the Palau as part of the Voll-Damm Jazz Festival, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band will present its latest album this year, Abraça Brasil, which covers classic pieces by the great Brazilian composers of popular music. A the band is reinforced by two of stars that are now in the orchestra—Andrea Motis and Rita Payés—as well as Carme Canela.
