Called “the best writer at work in the country today” by Raymond Carver, Richard Ford is one of the most acclaimed authors of his generation and a masterful chronicler of American society and morals. The saga starring Frank Bascombe continues (and likely ends) with Be Mine (Bloomsbury, 2023), the story of Bascombe’s old age as he takes stock of his life: through two divorces, a series of turbulent events, and the intimate experience of illness and death, Frank searches for scattered sparks of happiness. With a focus on contemporary America, the conversation will be centered around literature and life with one of the most emblematic voices in contemporary fiction.
