Pinocchio (The beginning of the journey) is an invitation to travel side by side with your inner child. Do you have what it takes to find your truth and set out on the path with courage and grace?
Playful gestures and a dreamlike atmosphere were influenced by butoh dance and Carlo Collodi's masterpiece Le avventure di Pinocchio. The play, directed and performed by Orland Verd, explores Pinocchio's existence as a metaphor for the drama of our civilization as a whole: a modernized representation of the human being in quest of his true "I." The work is a visual and imaginative poem that requires challenging and transformational muscular and physical activity to bring the world of Pinocchio to the present.
The work exposes us to the global wooden doll that wished to be human and has become a symbol of our quest for freedom. It is wordless and heavily influenced by Charles Chaplin and Kazuo Onho.
