Austria’s Peter Kronreif is a well-known drummer on the New York scene. From Brooklyn he leads an expressive group, Wayfarers, who put out a first-class debut album in 2010 called Gloaming. At Jamboree he presents Aeronautics, his latest CD, issued by the Barcelona label Fresh Sound. Aeronautics contains nine self-penned tracks in which Kronreif offers a musical journey with unexpected twists and turns, wild ideas, elastic rhythms and sounds and captivating solos. New York magazine The Big Takeover calls Aeronautics a “showcase of a great jazz talent.” Aside from fronting Wayfarers, Kronreif has worked with Le Boeuf Brothers, Thana Alexa, Christos Rafalides and Allan Harris.
