Paradise is Burning, Mika Gustafson (Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Finland, 2024)

In a working-class area of Sweden, sisters Laura, Mira and Steffi get by on their own, left to their own devices by an absent mother. With summer on the way and no parents around, life is wild and carefree, vivacious and anarchic. But when social services call a meeting, Laura has to find someone to impersonate their mom, or the girls will be taken into foster care and separated.

Paradise is Burning is one of the most awarded debuts of the year, and one of the most solid and refreshing films of the season. The story of three sisters whose mother has abandoned them and who live a dangerously liberated childhood with social services on the prowl.

Film will be screened in original version (Swedish) subtitled in Spanish.
