Les Résultats du féminisme, Alice Guy-Blaché (France, 1906)
Kung-Fu Master! , Agnès Varda (France, 1988)
The renowned director Carla Simón chooses the short film Les Résultats du féminisme by Alice Guy-Blaché—the first fiction director in history, and the film by the great French director Agnès Varda, Kung-Fu Master!, to talk about love and imposed roles. Both projections call into question the male perspective of the most classic narratives when it comes to talking about love and the different ways of feeling and desiring. With a dialogue about changing roles, Alice Guy-Blaché turns the tables between men and women and Agnès Varda puts women in a place where men have traditionally been.
The session will be accompanied by an introductory video where Carla Simón will explain the reasons that have led her to put these two screenings in dialogue, to talk about the historical reparation of cinema and the capacity that it has to establish certain narratives and also to change them.
Film will be screened in original version subtitled in Spanish.
