Iconoclast El Niño de Elche proclaims himself an "ex-flamenco."
It is his way of expressing his determination to recognize the different "ground zero" that art and its labels leave behind: an inexhaustible search that is personal and collective, and not regulated by tradition and concepts of genre. More a field of meaning than a specific discipline, his conception of "ex-flamenco” implies means a positive claim on his form of expression, and not a settling of scores with tradition, or with his past.
The former cantaor continues to be an unknown quantity; concert after concert, he calls into question that which we take for granted. Now, within the framework of Rock & Palmas concert cycle, he offers a night to expect the unexpected.
