George Gershwin became one of the most famous composers of his time in the United States. The fresh, light-hearted, popular style of music he wrote connected with American society in the “Roaring Twenties” of the last century.

The program includes a miscellany of the composer’s best known works. First, we hear the suite for band and piano by Albert Guinovart, in which he also plays as soloist, and then a collection of fragments from the opera Porgy and Bess, still one of his most popular works, which includes the unforgettable lullaby Summertime. Guinovart also performs the Piano Concerto in F, a sensual, suggestive score that transports us to the New York of jazz, blues and music that is still familiar to us a hundred years later.
