Neither vintage or classic, Neal Francis' songs are simply timeless. His music is a mixture of soul, funk, pop and R&B. This 30 year old Chicago musician has a couple of albums, the latest being In Plain Sight (2021), for which Francis has worked with the production of Sergio Rios (CeeLo Green, Alicia Keys) and the mixing of Dave Fridmann (HAIM, Spoon, The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala).
In it, he exorcises all his personal demons (old drug and alcohol abuse included) after living in an old church in his city and polishing that formula that at times is reminiscent of Allen Toussaint, at times of The Black Crowes and other times The Band. It is the heart of rock and roll watered in bourbon and fed by the old shamans of the genre in its many branches.
