The Cuban version of Don Quixote has been acclaimed by both the public and international critics, as the central character — the Hidalgo Señor Don Quixote de la Mancha, who in other versions has been robbed of his true significance as a leading character — has been brought to the stage in a dignified and serious manner.
The Ballet Nacional de Cuba studied the stagings of other companies to place this character, inspired by a masterpiece of Spanish literature, in his rightful place — which is why he remains on stage throughout the work, showing off the passionate and dreamy personality that has made him such an eminent character in literary history. This production will take place with libretto, set design and costumes by Salvador Fernández, consisting of a prologue and three acts.
Founded by Prima Ballerina Soluta Alonso in 1959, The Ballet Nacional de Cuba is one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world and occupies a prominent place in contemporary Latin American culture. The artistic line of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba is based on respect for the romantic and classical tradition, while at the same time stimulating the creative work of choreographers who carry out extensive research.
