Mixtur Festival 2024
to
Festival Mixtur returns this autumn aiming once again to offer a program that showcase new and old talents in a way that furthers the development of music and sound as an industry. The festival is a meeting point for musicians and other artists whose work focuses on research; as well as for the public, including those who have a background in music and those who do not, making this area of artistic expression a new experience. Mixtur seeks out artists who consider risk to be an inherent aspect of their work; they want to be an avenue for the Spanish and International public to discover and experience these art forms in an environment that allows and encourages exchange and discussion of ideas.
Open Call Mixtur offers an opportunity for the public and for fellow artists to discover new developments in the music and sound art scene at an international level, especially in regard to young and upcoming artists. Mixtur hopes this will expand our horizons and introduce attendees, whether professional musicians or the public, to developments in music and sound art beyond the already known and established forms of expression. The Open Call structure also allows and encourages the participation of musicians who seek to perform during the festival.
Founded in Barcelona in 2012 with the aim of contributing to the process of creating, teaching and more extensively distributing contemporary music and sound art intertwined with the science of sound itself and the creative arts, its ultimate goal is to promote the creative process itself by commissioning new works by recognized artists as well as young artists who, after completing their studies, find themselves at the very beginning of their careers.
