The local market is a centuries-long tradition and the lifeblood of communities around Barcelona. Year-round markets in each neighborhood ensure that you never lack the opportunity to purchase fresh produce from local vendors. But the king of all Barcelona markets is the annual Mercat de Mercats, a collaborative effort between the Ajuntament de Barcelona, l’Institut Municipal de Mercats de Barcelona and Grup GSR, to bring together representatives from the city’s top markets and local establishments.
Mercat de Mercats is a gastronomy festival of excellence in the heart of Barcelona. This unique event allows participants to enjoy talks, presentations, cooking shows and tastings by professionals and journalists in the gastronomy sector. This three-day event is an opportunity to discover and enjoy local tapas as well as dishes prepared by chefs from some of the best restaurants in Catalunya.
This year, in addition, the South Korean province of Jeonbuk will be the special guest at the Fira, and will offer an immersion in its gastronomic and traditional culture. Visitors will be able to discover Korean gastronomy, dances and concerts, and participate in activities that will bring Korean culture to all audiences.
