In the mood for a movie marathon? Celebrating its 26th anniversary, Mecal, the Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival, is back in town bringing together a line-up of hundreds of mini-movies from around the world. Categories include animation, fiction, documentary and short films with parallel selections and activities in addition to screenings.
Mecal continues to be a space for protest and debate, with parallel sections focused on the female universe, ecology, LGBTIQ+ rights and immigration. Likewise, Mecal continues to position itself in favor of freedoms and rejects extreme right movements. In each section you can enjoy a great variety of short films from around the world.
All short films are available in original version with Spanish subtitles. Also, Catalan subtitles have been added to some of the short films from the competition sections.
