Kohlstedt is a dazzling composer, pianist, and producer whose creations offer a contemporary approach to blending classical music with avant-garde styles. He has collaborate with Christian Löffler, Peter Broderick, and Douglas Dare, among others and has released six albums. Before starting his solo career, he studied multimedia art at the Bauhaus University Weimar and also studied jazz piano and was a producer of electronic music.
In his curriculum we also find everything from interactive sound creations that have been developed in events with visuals and projections — such as Currents, which he devised in collaboration with the German festival Reeperbahn in 2017 — to musicals for fireworks shows, like the one he commissioned in 2019 for the National Fireworks Fair in Tultepec (Mexico); or interactive sound installations based on complex algorithmic treatments, such as the one from that same year for the Burning Man festival in the USA.
