Martha Graham is an excellent reference of contemporary dance in the 20th century, and her company, founded ninety years ago, is the oldest in the United States. The company has received international acclaim and has performed in more than fifty countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Graham is usually placed among the great geniuses along with Picasso or Stravinsky since she revolutionized contemporary dance by creating a unique language through the mythical "Graham technique." This heritage is based on the expressive capacity of the human body and avoiding decorative dance, which has been preserved in her company.
