Luedji Luna, one of the most exciting and powerful contemporary artists from Brazil boasts a versatile repertoire moving between beautiful piano-led ballads, jazz fusion and candomblé-inspired Brazilian pop, to African polyrhythms backed by West African whirling guitars. Luedji appeared last year as an ambassador of a very different kind, touching the heart of what Brazil and its people really are. Combining a strong and varied percussion base, with haunting melodies and spoken word, Luedji addresses themes of love, femininity and identity.
Luedji is a fascinating and graceful powerhouse, moving and spiritual, using her platform to discuss individual and systemic forms of anti-blackness. Considered a Brazilian music sensation, the singer-songwriter stands out on today's music scene, mixing Bahian and African drum sounds with elegant, daring jazz.
In the last two years, the singer consolidated her career in contemporary Brazilian music, having won important awards such as the 2019 Caymmi Award and the 2020 Afro-Brazilian Award, the artist was nominated for the 2021 Latin Grammy and invited to perform on the night of the award ceremony Luedji Luna returns to the European stages in July 2023, beginning her tour at the Roskilde Festival, in Denmark, passing through Madrid and Barcelona.
In her new show Bom Mesmo é Estar Debaixo D´água, awarded as “best album of the year” at the WME Music Awards, the Afro-Brazilian singer Luedji Luna shows struggle, resistance and faith in her songs, through an essential discourse on the black feminist movement
The union of jazz, R&B, MPB and African rhythms fills and overflows Luedji's compositions. The artist mixes sounds, lyrics and poetry that consolidate the artist as one of the great highlights of the Brazilian neo MPB.
