Colombian artist Lido Pimienta will present her highly acclaimed album Miss Colombia, which was nominated for the 2020 Grammy in the “Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album” category.
Born in the Colombian town of Barranquilla in 1986, Lido Pimienta achieved international notoriety in 2017, after winning the Polaris Music Prize thanks to her second LP, La Papessa, self-produced and self-released.
In the works of this talented singer-songwriter, the exploration and analysis of issues such as gender, racism, motherhood and Latin identity in territories of different cultures stand out. Musically, she combines elements of Afro-Colombian traditions with others from contemporary electronics and synthetic pop. In April 2020 her third LP was released, Miss Colombia, produced by Matt Smith (aka Prince Nifty), which expands her narrative about her dual Colombian-Canadian identity, while establishing an ambitious new sonic palette reflecting her affinity for big names such as A Tribe Called Red, Tanya Tagaq, MIA and Cardi B.
