The Corsair tells the story of the shipwreck suffered by Conrad and his crew in a storm that takes them to the shores of a beach in the Ionian Sea. Medora, Gulnara and other women come across the wreck and instantly Conrad falls in love with Medora. But Lankedem, a slave seller who intends to capture the women, appears and the Corsair swears to avoid him.

The Laura Alonso Ballet Company was founded by Laura Alonso, daughter of the great Alicia Alonso, a mythical figure of classical dance. She draws from the great tradition of the Cuban Ballet, and the choreographies of classical ballet are present in her company's repertoire.
