The Kebyart Quartet is one of the most promising groups on the current music scene. These four talented musicians share an endless passion for chamber music. Their unmistakable style reflects a creative vision built around three axes: original literature, a commitment to new creations and the arrangements of a wide range of styles.
At the Festival Castell Peralada they will present a program divided into two parts that mirror each other and establish a dialogue between them. In the first half is Jean-Philippe Rameau's Suite in E minor. It has a hybrid personality; on the one hand it follows the path of an archetypal baroque suite made up of typical dances, but on the other hand, what's special about this particular suite is the inclusion of some descriptive pieces of nature and human life in which Rameau let his creative imagination fly. Followed by a Bach—saxophones, with their homogeneous yet malleable timbres of an almost vocal nature, turn out to be the perfect instruments for interpreting his music. In this case a selection of chorales will resonate in the second part in two of the caprices that the prestigious Jörg Widmann has written for Kebyart. Last but not least, in view of the imminent celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel in 2025, the versatile and creative musician Marco Mezquida has produced a fantasy on the music of the composer of the Tombeau de Couperin, a work which, in itself, constitutes a new look at the French Baroque dances that open this concert.
