Baker's folk-rock that lies somewhere between atonement and self-destruction survives everything, including herself. Behind her are the two albums that are more like diaries of a complicated adolescence (Sprained Ankle and Turn Out the Lights), the parallel project as boy-genius (the adventure she shares with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus) and the feeling that at 25 she can already be welcomed as a possible Elliott Smith of this century.
