Born in Uruguay, Juan Wauters is not known for a specific type of music, but for the crystalline sincerity that underlies everything he does. From the earnest seriousness of his lyrics to the playful rituals of his directing, Wauters has a gift for fostering community wherever he performs. In 2000 Juan left Uruguay to share a basement with his father in Queens New York. He grew up inspired by the entire American counterculture, which inspired him to compose bedroom folk songs with a dose of humor.
