Jerry Bergonzi Quartet
Mas i Mas Festival
to
Jamboree Jazz Club Plaça Reial 17, 08002 Barcelona
Once again, Bostonian Jerry Bergonzi returns to the Jamboree. Unrepentant but measured blower, architect of the solo and author of a suggestive speech, Bergonzi discovered the greats of jazz, namely Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Lester Young, when he was only eight years old. During the 1970's he moved to New York, where he shared tables with generation colleagues like Joe Lovano, Bob Berg, Victor Lewis, Michael Brecker, Steve Grossman and John Scofield. In the 1980s he returned to Boston and became a professor of current jazz totem poles.
During his long career he has been a sideman for Dave Brubeck and has recorded records with Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Barron and Miles Davis himself. He is a jazz legend, a true teacher of teachers. In this new visit, he offers us the most rhythmic version of him with Renato Chico on the Hammond organ, Andrea Michelutti on drums and the very special participation of the Valencian saxophonist Perico Sambeat.
