Jards Macalé is a prominent figure in Brazil's Tropicália movement. His upcoming tour pays tribute to his first album, A Farinha do Desprezo—a true hidden gem originally released back in 1972.
This groundbreaking masterpiece brought together Brazilian music genres such as samba and bossa nova, along with the fiery spirit of rock, classical harmonies and the improvisational nature of jazz. One of the most popular tracks from the album is "Vapor barato," which was immortalized by Gal Costa and reinterpreted by the popular Brazilian band O Rappa.
Aside from that, Jards has also served as the musical director of Caetano Veloso's iconic album Transa. He has also contributed to the fields of cinema, theatre, arts and literature. Perhaps Jards Macalé is the most versatile artist of the world-famous Tropicália movement.
