Among the most important musicians from the latest generation is Barcelona’s Irene Reig, a composer and saxophonist who made one of the best introducing albums of recent times with Views (2017, Discmedi). Her secret? Absolute mastery of the instrument, in the style of the jazz greats, she transmits energy, passion and spontaneity from the very first note.
In the company of Sala and Casares, two talented musicians of her own generation, Reig performs a repertoire of her own songs and great classics from the bop and hard bop era. The Irene Reig Trio has already performed at the Nova Jazz Cava (Terrassa), the Festival de Músiques Emergents (Banyoles) and The Hermitage club (Amsterdam), among other iconic venues.
At the Mas i Mas Festival Reig presents a new album, Mira (2021, The Changes), recorded in Milan at the last Jazz I Am fair with the pianist Joan Monné and a repertoire almost entirely of her own music.
