Gorka Benítez Baleen Lobak
to
Jamboree Jazz Club Plaça Reial 17, 08002 Barcelona
Baleen Lobak brings together four Basque musicians who, with compositions by Gorka Benitez inspired by their deepest roots, transmit and breathe a Basque feeling and attitude through jazz; a necessary and happy reunion with its origins.
Benitez has three interpreters who, like him, have been trained outside of the Basque Country; musicians of absolute reference in international jazz scene. Tenacious, restless and brave, Benitez has reached creative and interpretive maturity through honesty. One of a kind, and with a marked personal stamp, this saxophone polyglot is billboard fodder for the best clubs and recording studios. With more than eighty recorded albums and eleven as a leader, he has received numerous awards.
For his part, Alejandro Mingot is a versatile musician, accustomed to both experimentation and free music as well as blues, rock and jazz bands. A disciple in Barcelona of Dani Pérez, Jordi Bonell and Vicenç Solsona, he is a professor at Musikene (Donostia). Pablo Martín Caminero arrives from Madrid. The diversity of musical styles in which he moves has led him to collaborate with Abe Rábade, Jorge Pardo, Gerardo Núñez, Chano Domínguez and a long list of flamenco, jazz, classical and baroque artists. The group's drummer is another great one, Borja Barrueta, replaced on this occasion by Caspar St. Charles.
