Glenn Hughes, the former bassist and singer for Deep Purple, known to millions as the "Voice of Rock," member of Rock and Roll of Fame and current lead singer of rock supergroup The Dead Daisies, is pleased to announce Glenn Hughes performs Classic Deep Purple Live - Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the BURN album. Glenn will perform the legendary Deep Purple rock album BURN and other great hits from the British group.
Glenn's band will feature Soren Andersen (guitar), Ash Sheehan (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keyboards).
"Fifty years ago, in the summer of 1973, Deep Purple wrote the album BURN at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire, UK," recalls Hughes. “It was recorded in October in Montreux, Switzerland.” Hughes continues: “We became one in that century-old castle in the UK countryside. The Purples felt like a new band, with David (Coverdale) and me as new members, we couldn't wait to start working on the new songs. The atmosphere was electric, in an amazing setting.”
“All the songs on Burn were written in the crypt, under the great hall. We tackled a new song every day, we were on a roll. We would play and work on ideas, and David and I would come up with vocal melodies that would later have lyrics. I remember it like it was yesterday."
“Ritchie Blackmore was a joker, Jon had already warned me. One night he hid a speaker in my room and played ghostly voices to me while I slept."
“The title track was the last to be written. We came back from the pub, we went down to the crypt and the magic happened." Hughes concludes: "It's time to celebrate BURN…I can't wait to see you guys!"
