Giant Rooks is an indie pop band from Germany that was founded in 2014.The group started to gain popularity in 2016 at the NRW KULTURsekretariat, the country's cultural promotion initiative, where it won in the upcoming artists category. Shortly after the group came in third place at the New Music Awards organized by the online television and radio platform ARD.
The band, which is made up of Frederik Rabe (vocals, guitar, percussion, synthesizer), Finn Schwieters (guitar), Luca Göttner (bass), Finn Thomas (drums) and Jonathan Wischniowski (piano, synthesizer), published its first work in 2015, the EP The Times Are Bursting The Lines. Since then it has released two more, New Estate (2017) and Wild Stare (2019), and have collaborated on the Razz single "Another Heart / Another Mind." In 2020 the group released two new singles, "Watershed" in late January and “What I Know Is All Quicksand” in mid-May.
Finally, in June 2021, Rookery Live Tapes was released, in which the band covers songs from its discography, as well as a version of Nelly Furtado's "All The Good Things (Come To And End)" in acoustic format, showing more naked, reflective and vulnerable, in tune with the pandemic moment in which it was recorded.
