FIC-CAT was conceived in 2008 and is the only festival in Catalunya which promotes, advertises, screens and rewards productions filmed in Catalan. It is especially aimed at filmmakers with new proposals because it offers them the possibility of screening and presenting their films.

Thanks to its innovative nature, FIC-CAT has grown exponentially over the last few years and become an essential festival for film lovers who want to be up-to-date concerning the latest trends in Catalan film. The screenings include the presence of some of the professionals responsible for the films: directors, producers, cast, screenwriters, film critics, etc.

FIC-CAT also has an educational aspect: it promotes the use of the codes of audiovisual and multimedia language among the students of Catalunya.
