The u22 Barcelona Young Film Festival showcases the finest up-and-coming filmmakers on the Catalan film scene.

This year, the festival presents an official selection of twenty shorts by young directors under the age of 23, chosen from among the more than 350 works submitted. The screenings include six international and eleven Catalan shorts being shown for the first time, as well as others premiered in Cannes, Locarno and Berlin, reaffirming u22's commitment to continue discovering new filmmakers and promoting local talent.

The program also features a wide range of parallel activities such as seminars for professionals, specialist workshops, retrospectives, round tables, pitches and the first edition of the u22 LAB, the festival's screenplay laboratory, tutored by Arnau Vilaró, one of the scriptwriters on Alcarràs.

The festival will include retrospectives of the work of Ulrich Seidl, Meritxell Colell, León Siminiani and Virgínia García del Pino and will feature other leading figures, among them Liliana Torres, Ernesto Castro, Marwa Arsanios, Laura Ferrés and Laura Jou.
