Festa Nacional de la Llana i Casament a Pagès revives two ancestral customs: sheep shearing and traditional rural weddings. The first pays homage to the life of shepherds and related trades which have been so important for this area. It also allows visitors to see the way in which a shepherd has sheared livestock for centuries, the sheep shearer cuts and cleans the wool and the spinners card it and make thread.
The event includes a real wedding with the presence of personalities who act as the mother of the groom and father of the bride. The bride and groom wear traditional attire of the era and go around Ripoll on horseback until arriving at Saint Mary's monastery where the ceremony takes place. When it comes to an end, the couple invites the entire village to eat savory tart with longaniza sausage and to drink wine.
In addition, the festival includes a market with artisan products, a gathering of antique dealers and a good number of traditional festive features such as the traditional dancers known as esbarts dansaires and the gralla players.
