Festa Major de la Rambla
Festa del Roser
to
La Rambla La Rambla 1, Barcelona
Under the motto "La Rambla en flor," several buildings along Barcelona's iconic La Rambla are decked out in flowers every year for the Festa del Roser, or festa major, of La Rambla.
The Association of Friends of La Rambla was born in the 1960s in an effort to defend the interests of La Rambla shopkeepers and promote trade. Organized in honor of the patron saint, the Virgen del Roser, a mass was held in those first years an and an offering was made to the Virgin and given the distinction of the "ramblista of honor." Today, these traditions continue—head to the façade adjacent to the Palau de la Virreina, where you'll find a statue inside a chapel dedicated to the Virgen del Roser and there you'll see the traditional festival offering.
Over the years the festa has expanded to include a host of other activities, such as games, exhibitions, workshops, parades and popular culinary treats. In addition, during the days of the festival, some of the most emblematic buildings and institutions of La Rambla offer guided tours and open days with free entrance.
